The UAB St. Vincent’s Blount Sleep Disorders Center in Oneonta, Ala., treats sleep disorders to improve your quality of life. Our doctors and registered sleep technologists perform diagnostic tests to understand how your breathing, napping, and nightly sleep routine affect your health. Then they work with you to create a personalized care plan.

The sleep conditions we treat include:

  • Insomnia
  • Narcolepsy
  • Obstructive sleep apnea
  • Snoring
  • Restless leg syndrome

Sleep testing

If chronic snoring, fatigue, or daytime sleepiness affect your daily life, sleep testing might be right for you. We provide a wide range of testing options, including:

  • All-night sleep studies
  • Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) titration
  • Multiple sleep latency testing
  • Neurodiagnostic tests and epilepsy monitoring
  • Split study (half diagnostic and half with the CPAP device)
  • Wakefulness testing

At-home sleep apnea study

Your doctor may recommend at-home sleep apnea monitoring. If so, we will provide the sleep study device and instructions. Once you complete the sleep study, you will return the device to our sleep center to be analyzed. A diagnostic report is then sent to your doctor.

Sleep disorder treatments

We provide treatment options to help manage symptoms such as fatigue, restlessness, difficulty concentrating, and anxiety. Sleep disorder treatments also help support your brain and heart health by improving oxygen levels throughout your body.

Treatments for sleep disorders may include:

  • Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) device for sleep apnea
  • Cognitive behavior therapy for insomnia
  • Lifestyle and dietary changes
  • Medically supervised weight loss or bariatric surgery
  • Medication management
  • Relaxation techniques
