UAB Medicine St. Vincent’s One Nineteen is excited to host its summer culinary camp series designed for food enthusiasts ages 6 to 18. Guided by registered dietitian Madison Fogle, this immersive experience offers your child the perfect blend of fun, creativity, and hands-on learning.
Madison said the cooking camp offers an engaging and educational experience outside of traditional academics.
“It also promotes healthy eating habits and encourages kids to appreciate the value of fresh, homemade food,” she said. “Hopefully, by the end of camp, kids will return home excited about implementing their new skills into the kitchen and trying new recipes.”
2026 Summer Culinary Camps
Culinary camp is designed to help children build confidence in the kitchen. Over the week of camp, they will learn to follow recipes, use various kitchen equipment, practice basic knife skills, and explore different cooking methods.
Edible Experiments: Science in the Kitchen
Science in the Kitchen allows kids to experiment in the kitchen while also learning the why behind how foods are created. Campers will learn concepts like how milk can turn into cheese or yogurt, why foods have different colors and smells, and how ingredients interact to make new textures and flavors.

Culinary Camp through the years
Campers will be preparing about four recipes a day, which encourages them to try a variety of new foods and flavors. At the end of camp, parents can enjoy watching their child proudly share recipes and cooking tips, and perhaps even help cook a meal at home.
Camper Ava Wilson has been attending One Nineteen Culinary Camp for 10 years, and looks forward to return this year as a teen helper.
“I’ve learned a lot about different countries’ cuisines, and how to make healthy meals delicious,” Wilson said. “I am always amazed at the amount of food we make every day, and I love collecting the cookbooks of all the food I’ve prepared throughout the years.”
The One Nineteen Summer Culinary Cooking Camp is open to individuals of all skill levels. All necessary tools and ingredients are provided.
Fee is $258 per week and includes an apron, lunch, and a recipe book.
Spaces are limited, so don’t let your kids miss a chance to elevate their culinary game this summer.
