We are pleased to announce the most recent UAB St. Vincent’s DAISY Award, recognizing the extraordinary care and compassion that nurses provide for patients and families every day.
Congratulations to Sherrie Tinney, RN, for receiving the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurse Leaders. Sherrie is a nurse at UAB St. Vincent’s East. A patient nominated Sherrie for her empathy and care for patients in inpatient physical therapy rehabilitation. Her nominator explains what makes Sherrie worthy of a DAISY Award:
“Sherrie has shown such empathy and kindness every time we interact with her. Sherrie is always on time with medications and other treatments. I have anxiety related to my medical diagnoses and Sherrie helped me with my anxiety by patiently listening to my concerns and helping me overcome my fears. When she steps in the room at the beginning of her shift, my anxiety just melts away because I know that I will have a good day because she will be my assigned nurse. Sherrie is an excellent nurse and a kind and caring person, and is so very deserving of this award. We are so thankful for her.”
