Dylan Littrell, RN standing with his DAISY award

We are pleased to announce the most recent UAB St. Vincent’s DAISY Award, recognizing the extraordinary care and compassion that nurses provide for patients and families every day.

Congratulations to the most recent winner, Dylan Littrell, RN. Below, a patient explains what makes Dylan worthy of a DAISY Award.

During my recent hospitalization, Dylan demonstrated what it means to be an outstanding nurse. From the moment he entered the room, he treated me and my family with kindness and respect. He took the time to listen to my concerns, explain treatments and procedures, and answered all my questions without making me feel rushed.

Dylan was able to combine excellent care with extraordinary compassion. He anticipated my needs before I voiced them, regularly checked to make sure I was comfortable, and provided encouragement during a stressful and uncertain time. His calm demeanor helped ease my anxiety.

Nurses like Dylan have a lasting impact on their patients and their families. The way he cares for his patients with excellence and compassion make him an excellent candidate for the DAISY Award. It is because of nurses like Dylan that patients feel heard, cared for, and valued during some of their most vulnerable moments.
