UAB St. Vincent’s Chilton–Emergency in Clanton, Ala., provides 24/7 emergency care for severe illness and injury.

Our emergency room (ER) team includes cardiovascular, surgical, neurology, stroke, and orthopaedic specialists. They help provide care for conditions such as heart attack, stroke, concussion, broken bones, and much more. We connect you to any follow-up care you may need before you leave the ER.

• Admission to UAB St. Vincent’s–Chilton hospital, when needed
• Board-certified emergency care doctors and ER nurses
• On-call specialists
• On-site full-service digital imaging (X-ray, CT scan, and ultrasound)

When to seek emergency care

Call 911 or go immediately to the nearest ER if you or a family member is experiencing any of these symptoms:

• Abdominal pain (moderate to severe)
• Back pain (severe)
• Chest pain
• Coughing up or vomiting blood
• Head injury or other major trauma
• Open bone fracture
• Pregnancy labor pains
• Severe allergic reactions
• Severe bleeding
• Severe burns
• Shortness of breath
• Severe skin infections or complicated abscesses
• Sudden neurologic changes like weakness or numbness on one side, difficulty speaking or walking, or loss of consciousness/fainting

Follow-up care

Your care doesn’t stop when you leave the ER. We provide follow-up care to support your recovery. Your care team also helps you manage your medications and sends prescriptions to the pharmacy of your choice.
