The UAB Medicine St. Vincent’s One Nineteen Sleep Wellness Center treats sleep disorders to improve your quality of life. Our doctors and registered sleep technologists perform diagnostic tests to understand how your breathing, napping, and nightly sleep routine affect your health. Then they work with you to create a personalized care plan.

The sleep conditions we treat include:

  • Insomnia
  • Narcolepsy
  • Obstructive sleep apnea
  • Snoring
  • Restless leg syndrome

Sleep testing

If chronic snoring, fatigue, or daytime sleepiness affect your daily life, sleep testing might be right for you. We provide a wide range of testing options, including:

  • Overnight sleep studies
  • Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) titration
  • Advanced PAP therapy titrations such as bilevel positive airway pressure (BPAP)
  • Split study – beginning portion is diagnostic and second part of the night uses PAP therapy
  • Multiple sleep latency testing
  • Wakefulness testing
  • Nocturnal ETCO2 monitoring
  • EEG monitoring for nocturnal neurodiagnostic concerns

At-home sleep apnea study

Your doctor may recommend at-home sleep apnea monitoring. If so, we will provide the sleep study device and instructions. Once you complete the sleep study, you will return the device to our sleep center to be analyzed. A diagnostic report is then sent to your doctor.

Sleep disorder treatments

Your doctor provides treatment options to help you manage your symptoms, such as fatigue, restlessness, difficulty concentrating, and anxiety. Sleep disorder treatments also help support your brain and heart health by improving the delivery of oxygen throughout your body.

Treatments for sleep disorders may include:

  • CPAP device for sleep apnea
  • Surgery and other non-PAP options for obstructive sleep apnea
  • Cognitive behavior therapy for insomnia
  • Lifestyle and dietary changes
  • Weight loss or bariatric surgery
  • Medication management
  • Relaxation techniques
