Our Bariatric Surgery Pre-Operative 1:1 Dietitian Insurance Evaluation is a required, individualized nutrition assessment for patients whose insurance plans mandate a one-on-one dietitian visit in addition to completion of a bariatric group nutrition class. This appointment evaluates dietary history, prior weight management efforts, readiness for lifestyle change, and pre-operative nutrition knowledge, with documentation provided to support medical necessity and surgical clearance.
Appointments are by referral and scheduled by bariatric program staff only. Patient self-registration is not permitted.
Appointments are 30 minutes in length and can be completed virtually via ZOOM or in person in the UAB St. Vincent’s East Bariatric Center.
