Post-Op Dietitian Appointments
After your bariatric surgery, you will meet with the bariatric registered dietitian at scheduled intervals-6 weeks, 6 months, and annually or as part of our RECHARGE program. Each visit is a one  on-one session, usually 30 minutes, either in-clinic or via telehealth. During your appointment, your dietitian will:

Review your current diet stage and guide you through the next progression (clear liquids, full liquids, purées, soft foods, or regular textures)
Check your protein intake, fluid intake, and supplement routine
Review your recent lab work for nutritional deficiencies
Track your weight loss progress
Talk through any challenges you are having — nausea, food intolerances, dumping syndrome, cravings, emotional eating, or plateaus
Help you plan meals, grocery lists, and strategies for eating out, traveling, and holidays
Adjust your nutrition plan as your body and life change

These appointments are required as part of your post-operative care and are essential to your long-term success.  Please come prepared with your food log, supplement list, and any questions you have.

Appointments are  scheduled by bariatric program staff only. Patient self-registration is not permitted.

Appointments are 30 minutes in length and can be completed virtually via TELEHEALTH or in person in the UAB St. Vincent’s East Bariatric Center.
