DAISY winner: Ora Jerald, RN

Ora Jerald, RN

We are pleased to announce the most recent UAB St. Vincent’s DAISY Award, recognizing the extraordinary care and compassion that nurses provide for patients and families every day.

Congratulations to Ora Jerald, RN, for receiving the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurse Leaders. Ora is a nurse at UAB St. Vincent’s East. A patient nominated Ora for her composure and calming presence during a stressful time.

“When she first came on shift, my condition was worsening. I was becoming increasingly agitated, discouraged, and beginning to lose hope. What stood out about Ora was that she recognized I was struggling with more than just physical pain. She took the time to help me work through the frustration I was experiencing. Her reassurance and compassion helped pull me out of a very dark place mentally. She made me feel heard, understood, and cared for when I needed it most,”

“She remained professional, compassionate, and present throughout it all. I truly believe her support helped my recovery, not only physically, but mentally as well. Her ability to bring comfort, hope, and peace during a stressful time is exactly why she deserves a DAISY Award.”
