UAB St. Vincent’s Diabetes Education Center–Birmingham

The UAB St. Vincent’s Diabetes Education Center–Birmingham educates people with endocrine disorders, such as diabetes, to help maximize their quality of life. We teach diabetes self-management skills through classes and individual instruction, both online and in person.

Our program includes:

• A health assessment to help personalize your diabetes education
• Nutritional assessment and meal plan from a registered dietitian
• Instruction on insulin administration and home blood glucose monitoring, if needed
• Follow-up education to reinforce diabetes education and monitor progress through visits, phone calls, or mail
• Review of actual and target A1C levels

Other services include:

• Gestational diabetes classes
• Insulin pump training
• Foot screenings, by request
