UAB St. Vincent’s rolls out new name for maternity program
Maternity and postpartum care at UAB St. Vincent’s has a new name: the UAB St. Vincent’s Maternity Support Center.
Previously known as Monogram Maternity, the program features a wide range of care and support services for new and expectant moms and their partners. Some of these services are highlighted below.
Maternity nurse navigators
The journey through pregnancy and childbirth is filled with lots of joy, but also many questions. During this critical phase of life, perinatal nurse navigation is a helpful resource for new and expecting parents through their journey and can help ensure the health and well-being of both mother and baby.
Perinatal nurse navigation is a specialized form of nursing care that focuses on guiding and supporting families throughout their perinatal journey. Perinatal nurse navigators are highly trained experts in maternal and infant health, and they have a deep understanding of the physical, emotional, and psychosocial aspects of pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. These nurses serve as a bridge between patients and the health care system, ensuring that their perinatal journey is well-informed, personalized, and as stress-free as possible.
Lactation support
Our internationlly board-certified lactation consultants are available for prenatal and postpartum breastfeeding support, whether in person, virtually, or over the phone. We also host a free resource for moms called Baby Cafe, held every Tuesday and Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. No signup is required – just show up with a hungry baby!
Expectant parent classes
From Spinning Babies and Daddy 101 to infant safety and childbirth classes, the Maternity Support Center has everything you need to feel better prepared for pregnancy, labor, and parenthood.
Birthing suite tours
Get familiar with our Obstetrics Emergency Department and take a tour of a birthing suite, to help you prepare for the journey ahead.
Boutique
Our boutique is here to support you and your baby through every stage of pregnancy, labor, and postpartum recovery. It features a wide selection of hospital gowns, labor and recovery essentials, breastfeeding supplies, NICU-friendly baby clothes, and much more.
