DAISY winner: Rebecca Bromley, RN,

We are pleased to announce the most recent UAB St. Vincent’s DAISY Award, recognizing the extraordinary care and compassion that nurses provide for patients and families every day. Submissions and stories are reviewed each month, and the winner is surprised at a special ceremony. You can nominate a nurse to be honored with The DAISY Award by using this form.

Congratulations to Rebecca Bromley, RN, who cares for patients at UAB St. Vincent’s East, for earning the DAISY Award for extraordinary nurses. Rebecca was nominated by patients and her peers.

Rebecca’s nominator praised Rebecca for her compassion for not only the patient, but the patient’s whole family. Rebecca went well above and beyond caring for the patient and giving the family peace of mind.

“She fed him when his food came. She brushed his teeth, washed his face, applied lotion to his skin, repositioned him—everything he needed that others didn’t always have time to do,” the patient’s family member said, “she didn’t just treat him. She cared for him.”

“More than her exceptional physical care, it was the emotional support she gave – nightly updates to his daughter, quiet moments of presence, and staying past her shift to make sure he was comfortable – that truly defined her gift.
