In the event of an injury, illness, or surgery, recovery doesn’t always just happen on its own. Patients may need expert care and guidance from the physical therapy team at UAB St. Vincent’s to help them rebuild their strength, promote healing, and reduce pain from movement. We evaluate your condition and your healing progress, listen to your concerns, then create a physical therapy program that’s right for you.
Many of our physical therapists have specialized training and experience in areas such as:
- Brain and spine physical therapy, including stroke care
- Cancer rehabilitation
- Hand therapy
- Joint replacement and rehabilitation
- Muscle strain and trigger point release
- Orthopaedic rehabilitation
- Pelvic floor therapy
- Sports injury rehabilitation
- Post-amputation therapy
- Vestibular therapy for balance disorders
Care for stroke recovery and Parkinson’s disease
We provide advanced rehabilitation services to support your recovery after a stroke. Some of our therapists are trained in LSVT BIG therapy, which can help people with Parkinson’s disease use their body more easily. Your doctor can explain more about how physical therapy may support your care plan.
Where we provide services
We provide rehabilitation services in the hospital, at outpatient physical therapy clinics, at multispecialty rehabilitation clinics, as part of home health care, and at standalone inpatient rehabilitation facilities.
Multispecialty care
Physical therapy is just one type of rehabilitation service. Along the way, your care may require other rehabilitation services such as pediatric therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language therapy, and other types of specialists. Your care team will help you schedule these appointments, connect with other needed services, and answer your questions. From your first therapy appointment and throughout your ongoing care, we will keep your doctor informed about your progress.
